HART & SOUL Elaine Hart's '93 Mustang GT

"The Story behind the Paint" By XXX CUSTOM RIDES

The custom paint theme on Elaine's ride was designed as a one-off original based on her actual family story. Customized as a tribute to her fallen parents the story starts on the drivers side with our rendition of the traditional red heart and yellow ribbon. It is symbolic of her love for her father who eventually fell prey to health issues, but not before putting up one hell of a fight.

Vancouver then being home for the family as well as Downtown being Elaine's workplace, we started with a Vancouver Harbour waterfront view and the Downtown city skyline. The stormy night skies embodied with mystical Native American spirit horses depict his initial brush with fate as it came for him, yet against all the odds proved it was not his time. He not only survived but went on to enjoy many more years with his loved ones.

The passenger side of the car is intended to portray the borrowed time that both Elaine's Mom and Dad enjoyed together once moving to Vancouver Island. The peaceful pink West Coast sky that early sailors believed to be a sign of a good day on the waters the following day is meaningful to the story as it depicts the smooth sailing they shared, even if proving to be short lived. The scene is looking west as if approaching Nanaimo Harbour from Vancouver, with Entrance Island lighthouse in the foreground and a majestic Orca whale breaching to the right.

To the West Coast Native the Orca or Killer Whale symbolizes family, romance, longevity, harmony, travel, community and protection. It is said to protect those who travel away from home, and lead them back when the time comes. The Killer Whales live like wolves, mate for life and raise each child with care.

The top end of Gabriola Island can be seen with Vancouver Island mountains in the distance, along with the setting sun and the pink tranquil skies. It was here on the Island where only a few short years later the mystical spirit horses would prove to catch back up to the Harts, only this time would be different. This time they came for Mom who we lost to breast cancer as memorialized with the pink ribbon entangled with a black rose. The black rose was chosen for being symbolic of farewell and sorrow, as well as Rose being Elaine's middle name.

On the hood is our version of the wild Mustang and stripes as used by Ford as the logo for the Mustang. (can be seen on the wheels) Our design is a blend of Ford's Mustang logo and our rendering of the mystical spirit horse. To the American Indian, the horse symbolizes freedom and the power that comes with being free. The power and strength of the horse spirit is able to take its rider to new spiritual territory.

On the trunk you will find a little something for no-one other than Elaine herself representing her own personal wild side and the little demon within her. You may have already noted that the little demon is leaning on a XXX skull logo that you can find on all of our later designs. In addition, and not so obvious are hearts on the under side of both the hood and trunk lid. After all her name is ... Hart!
